Revelations

People often wonder, why do people talk to themselves. I will give you the top reasons.
-Insanity
-Bored
-Lonely
-Desperate
-Imaginary friend

The last one is often the case. Especially in small children. Why do people have imaginary friends? Either they are an only child and they need someone to play with or its a game.
How do children make up an imaginary friend? Angels.
Or the more unpleasant to some people, the dead. Some people are born with talents. They are good at writing, they can play football, video games, doing nothing. Or they have psychic powers. Whatever you wanted to call them, but this includes seeing the dead.

After I died, my little brother was only four at the time, not old enough to understand what the word death means. Barely understand, ' Gone. '
" Daddy, where's Destiny? "
" She's at Paige's house. "

One night after my father went crazy when reality set in he broke the mirror in my bedroom, the glass shattering. He never again wanted to see what his daughter had saw.
My brother came in and wiped my father's tears. As my father left to go out, my brother came back and looked in the mirror, what was left. I accidently cast myself.

" Is this possible? " I asked my friend, Molly, she was dead too. Car accident.
" Where do you think imaginary friends came from? "

People wonder why one of the Ten Commandments is no sex before marriage. That's a load of crap. If God didn't want us to have sex to enjoy, he wouldn't have created it.
I sat on the swingset with Molly, twisting the chains up all the way and then letting go, spinning until I stopped.
Another person joined us. A boy, Josh.
" What are you doing? "
" We're bored. " I answered honestly.
" Me too, there's nothing to do here. " They say Heaven was a paradise. Our heavens were customized for us. Favorite smell, everything.
In mine there was a hint of lime. A spicy, yet sweet smell. Molly's were apples. Josh...this was gross, but he liked the smell of a locker room. He missed it.

" You ever have sex? " I asked him.
" Yeah, once. We both just wanted to do it, to try it. Get it over with you know? " I looked at him. He was sixteen.
" What about you? "
" No. "
" Never? "
" No. "
" Why not? "
" It wasn't mean't to happen. "

So just like that, I had two new best friends. Our group grew as we picked up strays along the way.

I thought of my mother.
When I was little I had always heard my grandfather tell my mother she had Ocean Eyes. I thought it was because they were blue, but until that morning, that was all I thought.
After I was dead she never seemed to stop crying. My mother's eyes were oceans and inside them, there was loss.

" Do you ever think about what cold have been? " I asked Josh one day. Molly was in a place that she often disappeared to and when she was gone, I missed her.
" I did at first, but I stopped. "
" How can you stop? "
" There is no point in it. You'll never get it back so why waste your time? "

In this place we call Heaven, we could do anything. There was a school, but you didn't have to go to class. The three of us even ran naked through the hallways doing a lap dance on the principal's desk. Sure, the three of us got naked together, so what?
I would say live life to the fullest, but for us it wasn't the case. We were stuck sixteen forever.

" Josh, when did you lose your virginity? " We were playing Truth or Dare.
" I was... twelve. "
" You whore. " We started laughing.
" It was to a friend. "
I sat quietly. I liked Josh. If we were alive we might even have been friends, but no use thinking about it. What was the point after you died?

People wonder why this happened to them. Most of the time they aren't dead. Think about it, you say that your life just went to hell, but seriously, you're alive I would kill to be you. But then you would be in Hell or I would... does it matter?

And it really makes me mad, once they do die, they say, " Why wasn't it him? " Be glad you made it up here.

" How did you die? " Josh asked me one day.
" I was murdered. "
" Want to talk about it? "
" Not right now, I'll tell you later. "
" Okay, fair enough. Don't you want to know how I died? "
" If you want to tell me. "
" I took too many pills at a party. It was an accident. "
I looked at him, his eyes full of regret. " You asked me once if I wondered what could have been, I do think about it. I wouldn't have been so reckless. "
He started to cry. I hugged him. Molly found us like that later, rocking each other in the middle of the basketball court.

We each had our own apartment. I invited Josh over, Molly was busy.
" This is nice. " He said. I had made stuff to eat. Spaghetti, Josh's favorite. He needed some happy in his life.
You wonder why we are eating when we are dead, we still grow weak.
" Its nothing, " I muttered.
I had been dead for a while now, known Josh for a year and a half.
" It is. No one has ever made something for me. "
" Never? "
" No, I grew up on microwave dinners. "
I looked at him, his chocolate brown hair. His dark eyes.
" Thank you. " He smiled.

So after dinner we went in the living room and watched I Love Lucy re-runs. We both found black and white films romantic and classic. I loved the classics.
" I love this show. " I said. I had grown up on it. What wansn't to love about Lucille Ball? Josh smiled and put his arm around me.
" I love this show, too. "
We sat like this through six episodes.

" I should get going. " He said standing up.
" Don't go. " I said it before I realized it, I didn't mean to say it out loud.
" Alright, what do you want to do? "
I stood in front of him. " Kiss me. " Tears ran down my cheeks.
" Don't cry. " He whispered. He brushed his fingers across my face, wiping the tears.
" Okay. " He out his finger under my chin and tipped my head back slightly.

I had never felt any passion towards anyone. Nothing, really.
When my mom found out about me when she was pregnant, she had told my dad and they had said, " Oh that's nice. "
They could never fogive themselves once I was dead, for not wanting me.

People often wonder if there is such things as soulmates. I think there was. But they say if you haven't found them in this world, meaning the world of the living, then you won't ever find them. That is where I want to prove you wrong.

I kissed Josh and I felt something. It was like I had been shocked with lightning bolt. Of course i only had one thing to compare this kiss to, but that kiss wasn't half as good as this one. Josh's lips moved against mine, he traced my bottom lip with his tongue. I shivered. When he pulled away I frowned a little.
" I might not want to stop. You know how teenage boys are. "
" What if I didn't want you to stop? "
He paused. " What to you mean? "
" I might just want you. " I did want him, all of him and I had just admitted that.
" You mean, like sex? " He sounded a little disoriented.
" Yes, and other things which I don't want to talk about. "
" Okay. " He nodded.

" So do you like me? " I asked.
" I do, very much. And I'm not just saying that. "
" I know. "
" So what do we do? "
" What do you want to do? "
" I have no idea. "

Finding your soulmate is like finding the other part of your heart. You are completed by that one person.
But there is also the thing if you find the wrong person and you think you love them.
Love is like dominoes.

People say that love just isn't enough. That isn't true either. That is the easy way out of saying, they are giving up. Love is enough. So what if you don't have all the money in the world or you're not able to give the person all that you want to. If they love you and they stay with you, isn't that enough?

I walked through my heaven alone. The streets in my heaven were cobblestone and there were the old fashions lamps lining the streets. The kind you had to light. In this heaven you could have anything. Be anything. At first the only thing I wanted was to live, that is the only thing you can't have.

I walked to the playground where we had all met and sat on the swings. I just sat there all day once. It had began to rain, yet I stayed and stared at the changing skies and the shadows. Finally, Josh came for me.
" What are you doing? "
" Thinking. " This was true, I had been here for eight hours, but in Heaven, time could either stand still of pass fast. To me it was neither. I was at a loss.
" What about? " He asked as he took the swing next to me.
Call us stupid for sitting on a metal swing set in a storm, we were already dead, who cared?
" Just questions. "
" Questions? "
" Yeah, when a tree falls in a forest and no one is around, does it make a noise? "
" Hmm. "
" Who puts money under the tooth fairy's pillow? Why don't people know that Superman is just Clark Kent with glasses? "

" Am I crazy, Josh? "
" No. But I'm crazy about you. "

People say true love never dies. This is also not true if you think about it. Look at me and Josh. We were in love and both dead. Didn't anyone get anything right anymore?

Like all places there were guidence councelors. Ours was April. She was a parole officer when she was alive and one of the people that she put away had killed her. They never found her body.

" What do you want? " She asked us everytime we ran into her. She taught us that whatever we wanted shall appear. So our heavens grew as did our friendships... and relationships.

I was on one of my walks when I saw a field. There was a single tree in the middle of it. It was beautiful for something so plain. It would be nice to paint on a cloudy day. The scene reminded me of Children of the Corn, but who cared?

I listened for signs that things were happening. I say nothing from earth and after a while I stopped looking. I only looked, watching over my little brother. He would be in first grade now. Everyone in town knew my story and they felt sorry for him so he recieved special treatment from his teachers. An extra cookie snack time, she would hold his hand when walking him to the bathroom. My parents knew the real reason, but they didn't say anything.
So it was no surpise when he came home with a crush on his teacher.

I showed Josh my world once and he liked my little brother. I never said his name, it hurt too much. He would always be ' my little brother ' to me. To the rest of the world:
-Destiny's little brother
-The boy with the dead sister
-The dead girl's brother

It would never end would it? My death would follow my brother for the rest of his life.

People preach about abstinence. Do you really think that works?
No!
Kids are going to go out and have sex anyway. Curiosity is one of the main reasons.
The key is to be careful. For me I could have sex all the time and be safe. I'm dead.
But for a lot of teens, they have the sex talk too late and they end up telling their parents they are pregnant.
They blame the child for mistakes. I was a mistake.

My mother was on the pill when she found out about me. She had made love to my dad and somehow here I am. Whenever she got mad at me she would scream about how I wasn't planned.
You know what, mom? A lot of things aren't planned, like my death!
Why plan when there is no point to our fate?

People say there is always a time to be a hero. Mine came before I died.

I was fourteen and we were at the park. We could walk there from our house so I took my brother. He and his friend ran out on the ledge.
" Be careful! "
There came back a chorus of ' we will. '
I laid out our stuff and started reading a magazine. I had painted my nails this morning after I took a shower.
My brother and friend, Nate, ran around, hyper. A few minutes later I heard my name. " Destiny! " I looked up and saw my brother on the ground clutching his leg. A snake with its head cut off. Nate had threw a rock. I ran over to my brother and saw he was bleeding.
I didn't have my cell phone. I know you weren't supposed to move bite victims, but I had to. I picked up my three year old brother and looked for help.
A man ran over. " What happened? "
" He was bitten. " I stroked my brother's hair. I saw the man looking at my brother's leg. " I can't do much, but I can help get some of the poison out. " He took out his phone and dialed 911.
I watched him take out a pocket knife.
" What are you doing? "
" I have to cut some of it, get the poison out. "

So I watched a strange man cut into my brother's leg. I coldn't think any farther.
